The new VW Amarok pick-up truck, which was showcased as a concept in 2008, is due to be launched in Europe towards the end of summer 2011.

The new name of the pickup truck translates into "wolf" in the language of the Inuit, one of the Eskimo people who live in Northern Canada and Greenland.

Developed from scratch, the new VW Amarok truck will be initially launched as a double cab pick-up with four-wheel drive, and a single-cab version is scheduled to be introduced later. Power will come from VW’s next generation of common rail turbo engines which claim to offer class leading fuel consumption and emissions.
