Volkswagen Amarok Finance Leasing and Contract Hire Deals
With a pedigree that began in the mountains of South America, VW’s Amarok is a real off-roader – rugged enough for work or play. It’s so good that it has picked up pickup of the year awards from magazines including Auto Express, What Van? and 4x4 magazine. However, inside the cab you’ll find you get a car-like driving experience and a refined design.
Under the hood sits a 2.0 litre TDI turbo diesel engine that comes in either 140PS or twin-turbo 180PS. This means it achieves impressive off-road capabilities – it’s also great for load hauling and cargo carrying.
Thanks to the comfortable interior and with the option of an eight-speed automatic gearbox (six-speed manual transmission is included as standard), the vehicle is as easy to drive in town as it is in off-road conditions.
For extra economy, BlueMotion Technology has been included on selected models. This comprises four elements – cruise control, low-rolling resistance tyres, start/stop – which saves fuel at traffic lights – and regenerative braking, which uses the energy used during deceleration recuperated to charge the battery – how clever is that?
Off-roading is optimised with the Volkswagen 4MOTION system, and it can hold its own on steep inclines, uneven terrains – even small fords. An Electronic Stabilisation Programme keeps the Amarok sure-footed whatever the terrain – and other safety features include on and off-road anti-lock braking systems, Trailer Stability Control and Electronic Differential Lock.
Hold Assist helps the truck stay stationary on steep hills, and the Hill Descent Control apples brakes and regulates engine speed so that you get down slopes safely and in control.
To keep you comfortable in the cab, air conditioning is fitted as standard, and on the higher-level models, this is also automatic. Entertainment comes in the shape of a radio/CD player, with the option to include satellite navigation.
And while the designers have endeavoured to make the cab look as stylish as possible, they’ve also ensured that it is robust enough to stand up to a hard day’s work. Solid build quality and rubber flooring have been designed to stand up to wear and tear, while there are large storage areas in the doors for convenience. All three passenger seats have headrests and curtain airbags, and the rear seats can be folded down to create more space.
When you’re thinking abut working, the cargo area is hugely important, so it’s good to know that the VW Amarok has the widest load in its class – 1.22m between wheel arches – that’s enough to fit a Euro pallet in sideways. The load area is 2.52 sq m in total and it can carry up to 1,145kg. It has a low sill height to make loading easy – and there’s a light in the load compartment so you can work easily in the dark.
If the VW Amarok is for you, there are three models to choose from:
For a start, the Startline looks good thanks to its 16in alloy wheels and body-coloured front bumper. But of course it’s not all about looks – there’s that class-leading load area as well as the Electronic Stabilisation Programme to ensure it remains sure-footed whatever the terrain.
The safety system adjusts to suit your load conditions and there are other features designed to help the driver, such as Trailer Stability Control and Hill Hold assist.
Inside the cab, there’s the great design that goes into all Amarok models. Plus manual air-conditioning to keep you cool on hot days, front and rear electric windows for convenience, and the assurance of six airbags. The three rear passenger seats also have individual headrests for comfort and safety.
For entertainment, look to the single CD player – and there are numerous other nifty touches, such as the 12V socket that sits in the centre console.
The rubber flooring makes for a hardwearing surface, and there are large storage areas in the doors, while the rear seats are capable of being folded either in part or together to give more storage space.
A total of four load lashing rings make securing your load easier, remote central locking offers convenience, and for extra peace of mind a Thatcham Category 1 alarm and immobiliser is included too.
Even more attention has been paid to design features with the Trendline, and automatic air conditioning makes for an even more comfortable driving experience.
Starting with the basics of the Startline model, the Trendline builds on that with 17in alloy wheels, body-coloured door mirrors and chrome-finished front bumper. Front fog lights give it a more purposeful look.
For a more relaxing – and economical – driving experience, the Trendline offers cruise control, plus the trip computer keeps you informed about the journey. Keeping you chilled is the automatic Climatronic two-zone air-conditioning, while the six-speaker RCD 310 CD/radio will keep you and your passengers entertained.
Inside the cab, the cloth upholstery on the seats is complemented by leather-trimmed steering wheel, handbrake and gear knob. The layout is neat and functional, and is enhanced with silver inlay on the door handles and gear lever console. Plus there’s a front centre armrest for added comfort.
Little extras include a pair of multi-use mounts on the dash, for attaching pen or cup holder. Under the seats you’ll find storage drawers and there are 12v sockets in the centre console, dash and passenger grab handle.
This is the top-of-the-range model, First off, the 18in Durban alloy wheels really make an impression – then there’s the chrome and body-coloured door mirrors, polished stainless steel side bars, a chrome rear bumper with integrated step and privacy glass.
Inside the cab, Vienna leather and leatherette upholstery just ooze luxury – and who wouldn’t love those heated seats on a cold winter morning? More luxurious features come in the shape of the leather handbrake, gear knob and steering wheel.
For your comfort, the Highline features Climatronic two-zone air-conditioning, while for your entertainment, the six-speaker RCD 310 CD/radio does a great job.
Making the driver’s life easier are the front and rear parking sensors. Talking of the driving experience, the Highline comes with either permanent or selectable 4MOTION all-wheel-drive, and BlueMotion Technology helps the fuel efficiency of the 180PS BiTDI engine. For the ultimate easy driving experience, choose an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
If you want to add even more style, choose the Dashboard upgrade, which offers chrome-finished air vents, light switch with chrome surround, colour change for silver panels, and new black inserts.
