Volkswagen Amarok Pick-up Scoops Awards

Volkswagen, the commercial vehicle manufacturer that can do no wrong has seen one of their vans scoop two awards.

The Volkswagen Amarok pick-up which has proven to be extremely popular since its launch in the UK won the Whatvan 'Best Pick-up of the Year' award for 2011, while also scooping Zoo magazine's 'Manliest Motor' award for 2011.

Zoo magazine wrote: "TheAmarokpacks so much testosterone, other cars melt in its presence. It's that manly, the brute can carry a tonne in the rear loading area, can tow over two tonnes and tackle angles up to a 45 degrees."

The Volkswagen Amarok has received widespread critical acclaim since its launch and in addition to the Whatvan and Zoo awards the VW Amarok has won the British Insurance Vehicle Security Award in the 'Best pick-up' category.

It is no surprise the VW Amarok has won so many awards if you consider one of the vehicles did the job of a 40 tonne excavator in demolishing a 140 tonne steel chimney while being a support vehicle in the Dakar Rally both of which are two very challenging environments.

The Volkswagen Amarok has a 2.0 litre common rail diesel engine which out performs its rivals in the pick-up van sector which rely on more powerful engines, and yet was the first to break the 200g/km rating for emissions.

Volkswagen has had a wonderful 2011 scooping award after award for their van range which has focused on performance and low fuel consumption.
