Leased Pickup Truck Drivers warned of Frost Jacking

As winter starts to take hold in Britain, motorists have been warned to be vigilant for a new type of vehicle theft on the rise.
'Frosting' or 'Frost-jacking' is the name being given to thieves who steal a vehicle that has been left unattended by its owner with the engine running, in order to defrost its windscreen.
As security improves on leased pickup trucks, with immobiliser and alarms now being fitted as standard in many cases, thieves are taking a more opportunistic approach to stealing a vehicle, and it has been estimated that over 65 thousand cases occurred in the UK in 2010.
In addition to the risk of having the pickup truck stolen, drivers could also be prosecuted by the Police as it is an offence to leave a vehicle unattended with its engine running.
