Volkswagen has announced a range-topping version of its ever-popular Amarok pickup truck which, if the rumours are true, could be hitting UK showrooms in limited numbers early next year in which case we'll be keen to get our hands on it!
Fittingly named Amarok Ultimate, the pickup is based on the current Highline specification and differs from the regular Amarok with new bi-xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights integrated into the updated headlights, and a roll bar fitted in the bed. It also benefits from model-specific 19-inch 'Aragonit' alloy wheels and 'Ultimate' branded side stripes.
Buyers will be able to choose from Candy White, Natural Grey, Reflex Silver, Starlight Blue, Toffee Brown and Deep Black.
The pickup has a handy selection of standard equipment including front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, electric-folding heated wing mirrors and a touch screen-based navigation system with smartphone compatibility.
A 140-horsepower and 180-horsepower variant of Volkswagen's 2.0-liter four-cylinder TDI will be available. The 140-horsepower will only be available with a six-speed manual transmission. Meanwhile the uprated 180 horsepower Ultimate can be linked to an eight-speed automatic.
It looks like a great pickup to us. Let's hope it makes it across the channel soon.
