Volkswagen Amarok wins pickup truck award

Those looking for a pickup truck leasing vehicle may be interested in the Volkswagen Amarok.

The pickup truck has won the inaugural International Pickup Award 2011 at this year's International Commercial Vehicle Show in Hannover, road transport.com reports.

A jury of leading commercial vehicle journalists from across Europe picked the vehicle for the award, citing a range of positive features for their choice.

In particular, they were impressed by the pickup truck's interior comfort combined with superb handling characteristics both on and off road.

Furthermore, the loading space is the biggest in its class, while its engine offers high power and torque in conjunction with relatively low CO2 emissions.

Also at the motor show, VW showcased a single cab version of the Amarok.

It comes with a load surface of 2.2m long - enough to store two Europa pallets one behind another - while being the same overall length as the standard version.

The Amarok SingleCab will be coming onto the market in the first half of 2011.
