Visibility 'should be a priority for drivers'

Toyota Hilux owners may want to heed warnings about driving in adverse weather conditions, following news of high winds and storms expected across the UK in the forthcoming days.

Confused.com has reminded motorists to ensure they have clear visibility through their windscreens before setting off, as the ability to see well is vital.

Casualty reduction manager at Essex Police Adam Pipe stated: "Winter driving conditions can be treacherous enough but without clear vision there is an increased opportunity that drivers may not see pedestrians crossing the road or other vehicles pulling out."

He added that taking the time to allow windscreens to clear could be the difference between causing a fatality and saving someone's life.

Other tips from Confused.com included checking tyre treads before long journeys to ensure they meet the legal minimum of 1.6mm.

Chief executive officer of Delticom Rainer Binder recently commented that winter tyres can help individuals to stay safer on the road.
