Transport Secretary Andrew Adonis today launched Europe's largest database of van model CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
The Van Fuel Data service allows users to search and compare the CO2 emissions and the fuel consumption of the different van models available on the UK market, as well as offering tips on choosing suitable models and saving fuel.
It was compiled by the Vehicle Certification Agency, Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), and Department for Transport.
Speaking at the launch of the Van Fuel Data service, Andrew Adonis said: "This database is good news for van buyers - it gives them access to emissions and fuel consumption information that could well shape the van they choose, as well as enable them to cut emissions and save money."
Paul Everitt, Chief Executive of the SMMT, said he hoped the database would "…not only impact positively on tailpipe CO2 emissions but … also help buyers select the most economical vehicle they need for their business".
Vans reportedly account for around 15 per cent of engine CO2 emissions in the UK and their total emissions are rising more quickly than any other type of vehicle.
