The geography and weather of New Zealand is similar to that of the UK and British drivers may therefore understand why the Toyota Hilux was the best selling commercial vehicle last month in the Asia-Pacific country.
In March, there were 711 registrations in New Zealand of the Toyota Hilux, according to the Motor Industry Association (MIA).
Such a result follows a previous Best Selling Cars blog that claimed that across 28 countries, the pickup truck is the most popular in its segment.
Businesses and individuals with Toyota Hilux pickup truck leasing contracts may be particularly impressed with the 2.5-litre diesel engine version's ability to handle heavy loads, providing 343 Nm at 2,000 rpm.
In second and third place were the Nissan Navara and Ford Ranger, which saw 270 and 205 registrations respectively.
Commenting on the results, MIA chief executive officer Perry Kerr said: "2011 has started very well for the new vehicle industry."
