Ford Ranger drivers may be interested to hear that TomTom has announced a new initiative that will see online travel services and social networking sites created specifically for satnavs.
Corinne Vigreux, managing director consumer at TomTom, explained how the technology will bring a "new level of connectivity to the car without compromising safety".
She noted that individuals "want to stay connected - at home, at work, and everywhere in between".
The new Search & Go Live service will feature a Twitter function that allows users to tweet their destination and estimated time of arrival.
It will be updated automatically if the driver encounters delays, in order to ensure accuracy without the motorist needing to remove their hands from the wheel.
Other features include access to Expedia, Trip Advisor and Yelp so people can view live information about hotels, restaurants and entertainment in the vicinity.
TomTom was founded in 1991 and its maps cover 104 countries and territories as well as 34.8 million kilometres of road across the globe.
