Tighter Penalties for Reckless Driving

Jack Straw announced today that the maximum penalty for reckless driving is to be raised from its current level of two years to a maximum of five years inprisonment.
The revised penalties will apply to those drivers who are found racing their vehicles, driving aggressively and as a result injuring others as a result of their reckless actions.
Mr Straw has warned that the new laws would 'take some time' to process as the legislation would have to pass through the parliamentary process.
