British motor racing legend, Sir Stirling Moss, has revealed that he supports a controversial plan that would see the introduction of compulsory medical checks and a competency test every three to five years for drivers from the age of Seventy.

The RAC found that in excess of 80% of motorists aged 70 and over saw the driving refresher course as a valuable offer with almost 70% supporting compulsory medical checks.

Driver age is set to become a major issue in the UK as it has been estimated that the number of male drivers over the age of 70 will more than double within the next 25 - 30 years.
