Speed Limit Review to be Conducted

Local Authorities have been instructed by the Government to conduct extensive speed limit reviews of their rural roads. The review must be conducted by 2011 and requires the Local Authorities to concentrate on single carriageway roads where the National Speed Limit - well within the capabilities of any modern pickup truck -applies.

The Department of Transport has identified that 41% of fatal accidents occur on these type of roads and has insisted that each Local Authority is best placed to identify potential problem areas using their local knowledge.
