Toyota Hilux drivers may find following one expert's advice and carrying out regular checks can help prevent costly repairs on their vehicles.
Director of Completecar.ie Shane O'Donoghue told the Irish Independent how making cutbacks on maintenance can be a false economy.
It was suggested that individuals are avoiding having repairs carried out as they are trying to save money.
"People are holding on to their cars out of necessity and not, in my opinion, because they suddenly think that older cars are just fine now," he stated.
However, Mr O'Donoghue claimed that motorists need not pay someone to assess their car, as there are simple things they can do themselves.
Individuals were encouraged to check all the lights on their vehicle and the fluid levels as these are "easy to do".
The news comes after specialist insurer Warranty Direct recently claimed the summer months can often lead to higher car repair bills due the warm, dry weather.
