Potholes 'leaving Brits out of pocket'

Motorists leasing Isuzu Rodeo pickups may be among those being left out of pocket due to the poor state of Britain's road.

According to Car Parts Direct, drivers are being forced to shell out for repairs to their vehicles as many of the UK's roads are covered in potholes.

Simon Douglas of AA Insurance commented: "Drivers are unwilling to claim as they risk losing their no-claims bonus. The cost of repair may be less than the rise in premium."

As a result, many individuals are applying for compensation payments from councils with the average claim reaching £200.

It was suggested that it costs six times more for motorists to repair damaged cars that it does local authorities to patch up poor road surfaces.

According to Potholes.co.uk, one in five mechanical failures on UK roads are due to diverts that have not been filled in, with an estimated £320 million forked out each year as a result.
