Over 30% of motorists don't clear their windscreens

Recent statistics from Continental Tyres have revealed that over six million near misses will be caused this winter by motorists who fail to adaquately clear their windscreens of snow and ice before moving off.

Forty percent of motorists don't bother to clean mirrors or rear windows before setting off, while one in three drivers don't clear their front screens properly, citing being in too much of a rush as their excuse. Pickup truck drivers can often be guilty of this omission, even though their vehicle gives improved visibility due to the higher driving position.
