Now time to prepare winter tyres, drivers advised

Nissan Navara pickup truck drivers may want to prepare their vehicles for winter by exchanging their summer tyres for winter models.

ATS Euromaster has announced the opening of its tyre 'hotels' that are available across the UK for those who need somewhere to store their lightweight wheels.

The company's group operations director Chris Hufflett suggested that motorists are likely to start preparing for winter in advance this year following the poor weather experienced in 2009 and 2010.

"No sooner has the new school term started than we are reminded that it's about to get colder - much colder," he stated.

It was noted that long-range forecasters are predicting snow in some areas as early as October.

Mr Hufflett claimed that winter tyres have improved grip, handling, cornering and allow shorter braking distances.

The nationwide tyre 'hotels' will offer individuals storage until March or April 2012, when summer models can be refitted.
