Nissan sees profits rise

Nissan Navara drivers may be interested to hear that the manufacturing company has recorded $1.84 billion (£1.12 billion) profits for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2011.

President and chief executive officer of the organisation Carlos Ghosn stated that Nissan's ability to deal "effectively and decisively" to a crisis is highlighted by its "rapid recovery" following the natural disaster in Japan earlier this year.

"Nissan's performance in the first quarter ... demonstrates our potential to deliver the goals of our recently announced Nissan Power 88 mid-term plan," he added.

Sales of vehicles in the first quarter were up 10.6 per cent on the same period in 2010, with 1,056,000 motors sold.

Throughout the fiscal year, which will end on March 31st 2012, the company plans to deliver five new models globally.

The news comes after Nissan recently launched a new recruitment campaign for engineers and maintenance technicians to join its Sunderland plant.
