New Toyota Hilux 'to feature minimal changes'

The new model Toyota Hilux will not be too dissimilar to its predecessor, according to one expert.

Neil McIntee, editor of Vansa2z.com, described the modifications as a "mild makeover" with the manufacturer having attempted to "sparkle it up a bit".

He commented that the next generation Hilux is unlikely to be available until 2013, so fans should not expect to see too much of a change to this year's offering.

Mr McIntee explained that the UK pickup market "is quite small in global terms", adding that countries such as South Africa, South America and Australia have the biggest demand for such vehicles.

As a result, there is fierce competition between manufacturers in Britain, with the Ford Ranger proving to be one of the more popular models.

Despite these comments, Mr McIntee recently explained that the new Toyota Hilux is set to feature improvements such as a new bonnet, bumper, headlamps and grille.
