New regulations have been announced that may affect Nissan Navara drivers who take their vehicle abroad.
A European Parliament vote means there will now be a crackdown on people who commit driving offences while in a foreign country.
There are a number of crimes authorities will be looking out for in particular - known as the four "big killers" as they lead to 75 per cent of road fatalities.
These are breaking traffic lights, speeding, drink driving and failure to use a seatbelt.
Vice-president of the European Commission Siim Kallas, who is responsible for transport, said these offences cause thousands of deaths every year.
"We know that a foreign driver is three times more likely to commit an offence than a resident driver," he continued. "These new rules should have a powerful deterrent effect and change behaviour."
This comes after research conducted by Confused.com found only 53 per cent of Brits are aware that they need a foreign driving permit in some countries.
