Automotive manufacturer Mitsubishi has hailed the continuing success of its Mitsubishi L200, which it claims has established itself as one of the major success stories in the British van market.
Figures published by the firm this week revealed first-quarter sales of pick-ups in the UK soared by 64 per cent on the same point last year, with the L200 grabbing a 27.6 per cent market share - 8.6 per cent ahead of its nearest rival.
"Our latest figures from both 2010 and [the first quarter of] 2011 show that dealer profitability is at its highest level in the history of the company," said Mitsubishi UK managing director Lance Bradley, adding that the results indicated "a great success".
The company stated that its overall sales over the opening three months of 2011 had climbed by seven per cent on 2010's first quarter, despite a total contraction of 13 per cent in the wider UK vehicle sector.
In February, Mitsubishi saw global production surge by 10.4 per cent on the same month of last year, as commercial vehicle output rose by 17.9 per cent.
