Mazda to unveil new pickup truck

A new model to be unveiled by Mazda could be added to the range of pickup trucks available for leasing in the future.

The BT-50 compact pickup truck will be showcased for the first time at the 2010 Australian International Motor Show during a press conference on Friday, October 15th.

Mazda describes the truck as an "active lifestyle vehicle" that features "modern and refined styling".

"The new model was developed from the ground up as a brand new type of vehicle. Besides great looks, strength and dependability, the all-new BT-50 provides the perfect solution for a wide range of customers who lead active lifestyles, including families, workers and pleasure seekers," said the manufacturer.

Mazda says the model will be released across Europe but has yet not given away any performance specifications or said what date it will come to market.

The company recently announced that it had enjoyed record sales in August, securing 3.8 per cent of the UK retail market.
