A new fuel cap design may soon help prevent Nissan Navara drivers from filing up their vehicles with petrol rather than diesel.
Created by British engineer Lee Steadman, Diesel Head aims to avoid misfuelling situations, which are said to be on the increase.
Explaining how his creation can prevent petrol from being put in a diesel engine, the inventor said: "Most people do not realise that a petrol nozzle is smaller in diameter than a diesel fuel nozzle and it is this fact that gave me the solution."
As a result, the opening of a fuel tank fitted with a Diesel Head device has been designed to only be opened with the correct, larger nozzle.
Mr Steadman commented how many misfuelling incidents occur when individuals are rushing or distracted.
According to a recent poll conducted by the Good Garage Scheme, 51 per cent of people have put the wrong fuel in their car or know someone who has.
