Ford to unveil new Ranger pickup truck in Australia

A new Ford Ranger model could soon be available for pickup truck leasing.

The manufacturer is to unveil a new version of its Ranger pickup truck at the 2010 Australian International Motor Show this October.

Developed Down Under, the truck will be available in 180 markets across the globe, including the UK.

"Australia has played a leading role in the development of this latest global Ford product," said Joe Hinrichs, president of Ford Asia Pacific and Africa.

"Ranger is symbolic of how our great product development capability is being leveraged by the ONE Ford plan like never before."

Although precise details on the new Ranger have yet to be released, a Ford press release promised more power and "excellent" fuel economy from a new engine family, improved towing and payload capacity and "new levels of driving quality".

However, Ford pickup truck fans in the US and Canada will miss out as the new Ranger in their markets, Ford has said.

The Australian International Motor Show takes place on October 15th.
