Ford to create more jobs for British workers

British workers could have a greater role in the design and production of Ford models available for pickup truck leasing in the future after the manufacturer announced it is to expand its workforce in the country.

In an interview with the BBC, Ford boss Alan Mulally said the company is in the process of recruiting 120 new British workers and that further jobs could be created.

"Ford is now growing around the world," he told the news provider.

"So we are going to grow our business here in the UK also and provide great jobs and great careers in technology and innovation."

Ford already employs more than 15,000 workers in the UK, with engines manufactured at Dagenham and Bridgend and the Transit van produced in Southampton.

Over 50 per cent of Ford's diesel engines are supplied by Dagenham plant.

Ford recently announced that it will unveil the new Ranger pickup truck at the Australian International Motor Show, which begins on October 15th.
