Ford confirms new Ranger pickup truck

Ford has officially confirmed that a new Ranger pickup truck is on its way to the UK market, raising the possibility of a new option for pickup truck leasing customers.

It had previously been reported that Ford planned to unveil the new Ranger at the Australian International Motor Show this October.

That has now been verified by the manufacturer, which has also revealed the vehicle will be released in Britain in the autumn of 2011.

Ford promises the new Ranger will deliver more power coupled with excellent fuel economy from a new engine family.

It also says that it will feature improved towing and payload capacity and new levels of driving quality.

"The next-generation Ford Ranger is set to emerge as a clear segment leader," said a company statement.

"It not only builds on the tremendous Ranger heritage of capability, but it also gives owners a spacious, comfortable, feature-filled interior and sophisticated driving experience that they would expect only from a car."

The Australian International Motor Show begins on October 15th.
