Many vehicles, including pickup trucks now boast additional safety features that were not originally covered under the existing EuroNCAP rating system.
Emergency Braking Systems are available on a number of new non commercial vehicles as well as lane departure warning systems and attention assistance. These have previously only been found on luxury marques, but EuroNCAP are hoping that the new scheme will prove popular for volume manufacturers.
The new category notes the use of seat belt warning signals and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) which allows drivers to control a skidding vehicle.
