E.ON commissions Toyota Hilux pickups to tackle winter weather

Toyota Hilux pickups have been chosen by E.ON to help ensure boiler repair technicians can travel to customers left without heating and hot water this winter.

Under a three-year fleet partnership agreement, the energy company will use the 12 vehicles for callouts across the UK.

Fleet commercial vehicle manager at E.ON Lorna McAtear explained how the pickups were chosen as they will be reliable in the harsh conditions technicians may find themselves driving in.

"The most important issue for E.ON was that we sourced vehicles that had proved themselves in tough terrains and the harshest of winter weather balanced with offering the lowest possible carbon emissions," she added.

Having proved its capabilities by being the first car to reach both the South and North Poles, it is likely the vehicle will be able to tackle heavy snowfall and ice in the UK.

Toyota was recently named as the world's top-rated automotive brand for the second year running in a report from Interbrand.
