Drivers urged to slow down this summer

Motorists are being urged to think about child safety when speeding this summer, news which may interest Ford Ranger drivers.

Road safety charity Brake and Churchill Car Insurance are calling on individuals to be aware of an increase in the number of youngsters that will be on the streets during the day when the school holidays begin.

Research from the organisations show that 91 per cent of people believe drivers need to travel more slowly through urban areas.

Meanwhile, 74 per cent of those asked feel more should be done to make vehicles reduce their speed around school and community facilities.

Julie Townsend, campaigns director at Brake, said: "It's time that all drivers took responsibility and slowed down to 20mph or below when driving in communities, so everyone, especially children, can enjoy their local neighbourhood safely."

Many schools will be closing for the summer this Friday as the six-week long holiday begins.
