Drivers 'should check headrests' to avoid injury

People who drive Nissan Navara pickup trucks may like to follow the advice of one expert and check their seat is properly set up before heading out.

According to Simon Elstow, head of training at the Institute of Advanced Motorists, whiplash is one of the most common injuries individuals receive if they are in a collision, but this risk can be reduced with an appropriate headrest.

"Not all head restraints are adjustable, but where they are, make sure they are placed high and close enough to stop your head going backwards if you crash," the expert said.

He stated that for maximum protection, a person should make sure the restraint is level with the top of their head.

Individuals who are concerned about their safety if they are involved in a crash may also be interested to hear that Toyota has developed new crash test dummies to help provide additional data about the potential dangers someone may face in an accident.
