Individuals driving Mitsubishi L200 pickups may want to ensure they invest in winter tyres this year, following reports of cold weather moving in.
Michelin is urging people to prepare for travelling in ice and snow as recent reports claim many councils across the UK have cut their spending on gritting.
Jianni Geras, Michelin's head of car marketing, said: "With people visiting relatives and heading off on winter breaks and ski holidays it makes sense to do everything in your power to ensure you get to your destination safely."
It was suggested that local authorities have smaller budgets for salting, gritting and snowploughing, with some estimating a 30 per cent reduction in spending.
According to Michelin, cold weather tyres offer performance advantages, as the specialist rubber means the tread stays soft and flexible, which helps reduce breaking distances and improves handling.
Elsewhere, GEM Motoring Assist recently warned drivers not confuse winter tyres with snow wheels as the latter are far more effective in extreme conditions.
