Could the tube be more expensive than hiring a Ford Ranger?

Individuals considering hiring a Ford Ranger may be interested to hear that it could be cheaper for them to rent a vehicle than ride on the tube.
According to new research conducted by the Environmental Transport Association (ETA), fares for the underground can be 50 per cent higher than being chauffeur-driven the same difference in a Rolls Royce Phantom.
The organisation described how at a cost of £200 per hour, the price of driving through London in one of the luxurious cars would be £16 per mile, while a single tube ticket can work out at the equivalent of £24 per mile.
However, the ETA noted that the vehicle is less green, as it generates almost five times the amount of CO2 produced by the underground.
Andrew Davis, director at the organisation, said: "Luckily for Londoners, the healthiest, greenest and quickest way of getting about is also the cheapest - cycling wins hands down."
The ETA was founded in 1990 with the aim of promoting ethical motoring and sustainable travel.
