Individuals that store satnavs in the glove-boxes of their leased Mitsubishi L200 pickups may want to heed one expert's advice about keeping valuables safe.
Lee Griffin from Gocompare.com explained how it is easy to "underestimate" the value of everyday items left in vehicles.
He recommended individuals check their insurance policy as "cover rarely extends to money or business goods or items not in a locked boot or other compartment".
People were warned that they may not receive the full value of expensive items that are taken from a vehicle if their policy is limited to around £100.
Mr Griffin's comments come after new research from Gocompare.com revealed drivers leave an average of £278 worth of belongings in their motors.
Satnavs are left in a boot or glove-box by 43 per cent of people, while 32 per cent leave mobile phones and 29 per cent see nothing wrong with storing their wallets or purses in their vehicle.
Recent research from AXA suggests that 25 million people now rely on satnavs to help them get from A to B.
