Amarok Details Released

Volkswagen's foray into the Pickup market will be their AMAROK model, initially available as a 4 door double cab, with a single cab version becoming available in 2011.
VW will be manufacturing the vehicle in their South American plant in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which explains their launch in the Southern Hemisphere in the early part of 2010. It is expected to be launched in key markets in South America, Australia and South Africa first, eventually coming to Europe in the summer. Early indications are that the truck will be available from September 2010.
The Amarok will be available in a six speed manual transmission version: drive train will be via a switchable or permanant 4MOTION all wheel drive.
There will be a choice of two power plants under the bonnet. These are either a 2.0 litre Euro5 compliant common rail TDI engine producing 163PS or a 122PS version which gives 340Nm or torque at 2000 revs.
